New buildings for Monuments of Culture

Through the introduction of the “previous protection” regime, the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade in 2018 initiated the procedure for the proclamation of Villa Prendić (1932) in the Professorial Colony for the Monument of Culture. In 2019, in the process of public discussion on the proposal of the Plan for Detailed Regulation of the wider Area with the Clinical Hospital Center “Bezanijska kosa” in Zemun, which includes parcel of the company “Navip”, with the support of the Association of Architects of Serbia and the Milan Zloković Foundation, the Institute managed that Villa Mozer (1929), which is located within the company, to be saved from some demolition that would follow the privatization of “Navip”. The adopted urban plan has changed the purpose of the part of Navip into housing, but Villa Mozer was placed under the pre-protection regime and thus, with a part of the parcel, exempted from privatization, with the future purpose of the preschool facility. This building was the administrative building of the Navip company and just after World War II was upgraded to a height that lost its cascade shape and characteristic terraces, so it is hoped that in the next step of saving this “written off” building, it will be restored to its original form.
